Fixing Choppy Casting: Where the Chain Actually Breaks
Casting stutter isn’t mysticism — it’s a deterministic failure somewhere in the chain.
Diagnosis order
- Router: a congested 2.4 GHz band is suspect #1 — put phone and box on 5 GHz;
- Protocol: AirPlay/DLNA push (phone freed) vs Miracast mirror (phone loaded) — prefer push for video;
- Decode: old boxes software-decode 1080p and drop frames; switch to a hardware-decode player;
- HDCP: handshake failures downgrade the link; try another HDMI port.
