RK3576’s 6-TOPS NPU: Plenty for Single-Stream Vision
RK3576 carries the same 6-TOPS NPU as RK3588; the differences are CPU and peripherals. Single-stream vision is fully within reach.
Single stream is the comfort zone
- Measured levels: YOLOv5s @640 about 25-30 fps, face detect+recognize 15 fps, plate OCR 20 fps — all smooth for one stream;
- CPU is the bottleneck: multi-stream decode loads the CPU before the NPU; pick boards with hardware decode;
- Best form factors: single-camera edge boxes, access terminals, single-station inspection — the value sweet spot.
Don’t force RK3576 into multi-stream: beyond three cameras with detection, RK3588 is the comfort zone.
