- Interface: MIPI-DSI (mainstream) / LVDS (legacy industrial) / eDP (laptop panels) — confirm the board has the port first;
- Brightness: 300 nits indoor floor, 1000 nits+ outdoors with anti-glare;
- Temp: industrial panels -20~70°C; consumer 0~50°C — never mix;
- Lifetime: backlight LED half-life 30-50k hours — do the math for 24/7 units.
Three pitfalls
- Give the panel datasheet to the SoC vendor for driver confirmation first;
- Assess signal integrity beyond ~15 cm of flex;
- Design backlight power separately — 80% of flicker issues live there.
