EV Charger HMI: Key Points for Charger-Display Boards
A charger’s display is “a POS terminal living outdoors” — three gates filter out most designs.
The three gates
- Outdoor wide temp: -30~70°C with IP55 front panels; sunlight must not break the display or touch;
- Payment security: secure boot + encrypted storage; UnionPay/State-Grid certifications are non-negotiable;
- OTA: batch firmware updates and rollback across tens of thousands of chargers.
Reference build
An RK3576 charger-display board: 4G + Ethernet, CAN to the charger controller, wide-temp eMMC. Reserve compute headroom for future ad screens and plate recognition — chargers are ten-year assets; the controller must evolve.
