RT28 as an Ad-Blocking Gateway: TV Ads Gone Overnight
TVs are the worst ad offenders and the hardest to install blockers on — gateway-level filtering is the only clean fix.
Setup log
- Deploy: one-click AdGuard Home on RT28’s OpenWrt, taking over port 53;
- Rules: Chinese ad lists + a TV-specific rule group;
- Distribute: point the main router’s DHCP DNS field at RT28;
- Footprint: 60 MB resident — trivial for RK3528.
Results
One brand’s boot-ad requests: 100% blocked. Pre-roll ads across video apps: ~85% average. One RT28 covers 30+ household devices — far more dignified than installing blockers everywhere.
